Vermont expected to increase health care jobs 25% by 2020

According to a new Georgetown University study, health care jobs are expected to grow at a higher rate in most states than other job sectors. The study measured projected growth from 2010 through 2020.

Vermont health care jobs are expected to increase 25 percent by 2020 to a total of 56,730 jobs, up from 45,540 jobs in 2010. This is compared to 17% growth across non health care sectors.

Nursing, allied, and support sector jobs are expected to grow by 28%, 26% and 35% respectively.

The job increase is partly in response to the recent supreme court ruling on health care, and an aging baby boomer population expected to increasingly be in need of medical care.
